There are several conceptual algal systems either in development or preliminarily available in the market today. These systems have varying strengths and challenges.
At EnerGaia, we understand that the key commercial requirement is to balance the cost of the bioreactors against their algal production output. Our design accomplishes this. We utilize a proven lay-flat, continuous-culture algae bioreactor that has more than 50 cumulative years of successful operating history at 7 sites located across 3 continents.
Our winning solution focuses on the following aspects that we feel are key to maximizing the environmental benefit of our overall algal system:
- Cost effective and scalable
- Operable with indigenous species of algae
- Resistant to invasive organisms
- Adaptable to weather shifts
- Does not compete with farm land or other food production
- Generates profit without air, land or water pollution
- Creates sustainable, local high-tech agrarian jobs
- Can use salt-water so as not to deplete the world’s limited fresh water resources
In addition, we have improved our design to make it even more “green” through the use of bamboo and recycled plastic in its structural components. |
