Barcelona, Spain  June 17, 2010 -- EnerGaia was given the award for Best Social Impact in the Clean Technology sector of the Growth Company Showcase at the HiT Barcelona 2010 World Innovation Summit.

The judges for the award were partners and senior staff from investment funds including Aster Capital, Emerald Tech Ventures, Gamesa, the Siemens Technology to Business Center, and the IBM Venture Capital Group.  The award came with a monetary prize of 1000 euros.

The first day of the summit featured a Plenary Congress that was opened by Henry Chesbrough, who explained the theory of Open Innovation and moderated the preliminary panel discussion on Corporate Venture.  A second panel discussed the qualities needed by companies in order to attract necessary financing. It included venture capitalists such as Randy Komisar, Partner of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Then came the turn of the entrepreneurs, with fascinating accounts and discussions from several successful businesspeople such as Dennis Crowley, co-founder of Foursquare.

The second day focused on key sectors, commencing with Cleantech where internationally recognized experts, such as Christopher Vargas, Founder and Managing Partner of Cleantech Circle LLC, discussed and debated future trends in this highly innovative and growing sector.  A session on Electric Vehicle Mobility provided one of the highlights of the whole Summit - a chance to test drive the eye catching TESLA electric sports car.  Other sessions covered sectors such as media, healthcare and IT.

Google VP, Bradley Horowitz, gave the closing keynote for the second edition of HiT Barcelona, which recorded an audience of 2,083 visitors. Overall, the event was the setting for 17 keynotes and roundtables on innovation and investment as well as for 705 meetings between entrepreneurs and corporate ventures.
